ZIMBABWE Pool Association (ZIPA) president Ephraim Choto has revealed that they have parted ways with board member marketing and sponsorship Vandirayi Hove after the latter’s failure to participate in association’s business without justification.

Choto said the decision to show Hove the exit was taken unanimously by the ZIPA board.
“Vandirayi Hove, who was our board member marketing and sponsorship, has been dismissed from that position.

This was effective from 20 May. The decision has been taken unanimously by the board owing to his failure to participate in ZIPA Board business without reasonable excuse as provided in the ZIPA constitution.

This decision, unfortunate as it is, has been taken as a last resort after all efforts and avenues for contacting Hove for an explanation were exhausted,” said Choto.

In that regard, the ZIPA boss said Bulawayo based John Archie Scholtz has been appointed to replace Hove.

“The appointment is with immediate effect and is subject to confirmation at the next Annual General Meeting (AGM). We would like to take this opportunity to wish Scholtz every success in his new post as we seek and strive to uplift our sport and create better value for our players, organisers and sponsors.

In this vein, we urge all members of this forum to lend him appropriate support so that our mutual and collective goals are realised,” said Choto.

Scholtz is a well-known pool administrator in the City of Kings and Queens where he was recently appointed one of the organisers of the newly established Bulawayo Elders Pool League that will be chaired by one of the city’s renowned billiards player and bankroller Tongai Mukahiwa.

The league has 10 clubs and it was meant to accommodate players aged 40 and above the feeling being that they have always found it difficult to match young players’ cue stick skills pound for pound.

It was revealed that Scholtz will work hand in glove with Tapera Shumbanhete, Mukahiwa will be deputised by John Mangore. Tafadzwa Muguyo was elected secretary general.

The 10 clubs that have been affiliated to the league so far are Queens Academy, Nketa 8, Dragons, Entumbane, Chillers, Skittle Palace, Raylton, Exchange, Marula and Nkulumane Police.
