The 2022 Zimbabwe National Body Building and Fitness Championships are going to be held in Harare at the 7 Arts Theatre in Avondale Saturday.

The prestigious event will see athletes battling it out in 11 categories which include senior men bodybuilding, junior men, men’s fitness open, men’s physique, women bikini fitness open, women beach bikini open, women wellness fitness open, and wheelchair men bodybuilding open.

Prechard Hoko also known as Carter, a Bulawayo-based bodybuilder who is going to be participating in the Championships competing in the Men’s Physique, said that the competition was going to be stiff.

“The competition is going to be stiff as some of the athletes we have met before at the Iron Man BodyBuilding Championships so it is going to be a battle among gentle giants,” said Hoko.

Hoko is going to be representing Body Works gym with four other people such as Tapiwa Zimamba who is competing in the Men’s Physique and Fitness, Darell who will be in the Senior Men’s bodybuilding under 75, Lesly Gondo and Nompempe who will be doing wheelchair bodybuilding.

Hoko said that the training has been going smoothly.

“The preparations have been going smoothly and cannot complain now what is left is for us to go and compete,” said Hoko.

One of the event sponsors Admire Gomera from Bulawayo said that he was excited to be part of the event.

“I am excited to be part of the event as I am sponsoring the wheelchair section.

“I feel like the handicapped section has been neglected for some time now and it is a great opportunity for them to show people that they can do anything that any other person can do no matter being handicapped which is not a hindrance in life,” said Gomera.

The Championships will start at 2pm with tickets pegged for US$10 general and US$20 VIP.
