Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) have appointed Vince van der Bijla�s a foarmer fast bowler and administratora�s as a consultant.
A ZC release on Monday said Van der Bijl had been brought aboard a�?with immediate effecta�? to a�?assist ZC in all cricket mattersa�s working closely with the boarda�s the executive and national team management to map out a positivea�s constructive path forwarda�?.
Van der Bijla�s 70a�s took 767 wickets at 16.54 in a first-class career of 156 gamesa�s most of themA� played during South Africaa��s isolation from international sport.
He served as the International Cricket Councila��s umpiresa�� and refereesa�� manager from 2008 to 2015.
He will have his work cut out to help cricket make progress in Zimbabwea�s where it has been beset by player and administrative problemsa�s and has fallen victim to wider malaises in a country that has for decades laboured under the millstone of poora�s oppressive and corrupt governance at all levels. . . .
