Local night spots Zarah Lounge and Havana Cigar Lounge have come up with an initiative that is aimed at protecting their patrons against the novel corona pandemic by designing masks that will be sold in the city.

Even though night spots are still closed during the lockdown period as they can be a space for spreading the Covid-19 pandemic as they attract a massive number of revellers, the masks are a gesture of giving patrons hope in fighting the pandemic.

Proprietor of the night spots Phathisani Nkomo revealed that the health of the people came first and they were trying by all means to make sure the lives of the people were protected.

“This is a period where the world is overshadowed with the dark cloud of the Covid-19 pandemic which has seen many sectors closed including night spots.

“As Zarah/ Havana we put first the lives of our patrons during these hard trying times and make sure they are well protected as we have come up with an idea of producing branded masks that are made from imported genuine Covid-19 protection material,” said Nkomo.

In collaboration with night club patrons, Nkomo donated money to the Thorngrove Infectious Diseases Hospital early this year towards the renovation of the health facility so that it could take in Covid-19 patients.
