And the collaboration of the year goes to Xosti!
United Kingdom based Kwaito and Gqom musician Xolani Tshongwe, also known as Xosti in the music scene, has joined forces with South African artiste and music writer Zanda Zakuza and Emza on a song titled Khanyisa.
It was produced by seasoned beatmaker Prince Bulo from DJ Tira’s Afrotainment.
The song, which will be part of Xosti’s much anticipated album slated for end of year, will be released today (9 September) on major online stores with the official launch slated for 27 September in South Africa.
After its official release in Mzansi, a video shoot will be done on the following day (28 September) with various Mzansi socialites invited to be part of the cinematography.
South Africa Broadcasting Services (SABC) 1’s Selimathunzi Duku Duku are expected to capture behind the scenes moments at the music video shoot for their program.
From his base in the United Kingdom Xosti, who grew in Bulawayo said Khanyisa is one of the offerings that is close to his heart as it speaks on his personal life and echoes lyrics that encourages people not to give up in life.
“Khanyisa is very special to me. It talks about the hardships I went through in life which encouraged me to work hard and be successful as I am today. On the song, I encourage people not to give up in life and continue chasing their dreams.
“I worked with Zanda Zakuza, Emza and Prince Bulo, they are very professional creatives and they contributed immensely on this song. They are all from South Africa, so we decided to drop the song on 9 September and then do the official launch on 27 September in Mzansi.
“We will do a music video of the song on the following day (28 September) and we have invited some of the big names in Mzansi as well as Selimathunzi Duku Duku to be part of the shoot,” said Xosti.
Apart from this song, Xosti has worked with “expensive” names in Mzansi who attract a lot of money for a collaboration including DJ Tira and Rethabile Khumalo.
However, he said all his collaborations are not about money.
“Talent is what counts in music and creating good relations with people is the most important aspect in life. My relationship with Zanda Zakuza comes a long way before fame and it has led to this collaboration,” said Xosti.
