DESPITE their winless streak in the Chibuku Super Cup, Bulawayo City head coach, Philani “Beefy” Ncube said he was happy with the team that he is building.
On Sunday, the city fathers fell 1-0 at the hands of Highlanders. In their first game of the tournament, they went down 2-0 to Chicken Inn before they played a two-all draw against Bulawayo Chiefs.
“I’m happy with the project. Even a coach from the moon cannot take a team from scratch and see the team play the way the beautiful we have performed after over a year without football. So, we are in the right direction.
“Fine, as much as we want to win, we are competing but this is where we are. I’m happy today we conceded a goal in the 85th minute. That shows improvement. In our first game we conceded in 14th minute and in our second game we conceded in the 18th minute. This time (against Highlanders) we went for the first 45 minutes without conceding a goal,” said the outspoken Ncube.
City are tied with Bulawayo Chiefs on one point in a Group Two, that has log leaders Chicken Inn and second placed Bosso.
Both Gamecocks and Bosso are on seven points, but the former sit at the apex of the log courtesy of a superior goal difference of +4. Highlanders are on +2.
