IN the wake of pitch invasion by a section of their fans, Bulawayo football giants, Highlanders have reportedly condemned it and lashed out at ‘overzealous” police officer for firing tear gas which resulted in the abandonment of their Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie against former champions FC Platinum at Zvishavane’s Mandava Stadium.

The match was called off six minutes before time after assistant referee Albinos Zigwati raised his flag to signal penalty after adjudging Highlanders’ second vice captain Peter Muduhwa had fouled Platinum winger Walter Musona.

Consequently, referee Kuzivakwamwari Jaravaza pointed to the spot when the two teams were tied 1-1.

TV footage from our television station Zimpapers Television Network, that has been widely circulating shows the incident occurred outside the penalty area shows the contact between Muduhwa and Musona happened outside the box.
