A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Nkulumane in Bulawayo was recently sentenced to five months imprisonment after he was found guilty of a criminal charge of trespassing into the premises of the Council of the Blind.

The court heard that on 13 September George Nkomo jumped over the gate of the Council of the Blind and started moving around the institution’s yard only to be sold out by an alarm system.

As a result, two security guards Thubelihle Sibanda and Godswill Chimwaza from Safeguard Security, who were manning the premises, were called into action and managed to apprehend Nkomo.

Thereafter, Sibanda and Chimwanza called their superior Raphael Nyathi who came and checked the premises and discovered that nothing had been stolen.

Nyathi then reported the matter at Bulawayo Central Police Station.

In court, Nkomo claimed he was drunk when he committed the crime and was looking for a place to sleep.

However, he also pleaded guilty to his charge hence his sentence by Bulawayo magistrate Busani Sibanda for the offence.

Three months were suspended on the condition that he pays a fine of $20 000. The other two months were further suspended for five years on the condition of good behaviour.
