SEVENTEEN matches and no defeat; the Bulawayo Chiefs Queens mean business.

Their name sends shivers down the spines of their opponents and rightly so because Bulawayo Chiefs Queens, otherwise known as Amakhosikazi, are ruthless on the football pitch.

The team competes in the Women’s Southern Region Soccer League.

When the team started playing in the local women’s league this year, club media officer Thulani Javas Sibanda said they meant business and would take no prisoners on the football pitch and true to his word, Amakhosikazi have mastered the art of thrashing their opponents.

In just 17 matches, the side has scored a whopping 95 goals.

“Our women’s team set three targets at the start of the season with our top priority being to end the season without a defeat. So far, we are on course to achieve that goal.

“Our second target is to gain promotion into the Premier Soccer League, where we will play against some of the best teams in the country and our final target was to end the season without conceding a goal but unfortunately, we did let in one goal,” said Sibanda.

Striker Lauryn Mupasi leads the goal scoring charts with 18 goals closely followed by Patience Ndlovu with 17.

A total of 15 players have found the back of the net in the last 17 matches.

Their biggest win is the 11-0 drubbing of Western Rangers at the Pumula South Ground (Emarolini) back in July.

The side has Mighty Warriors defender Nobuhle Majika in their ranks.
