A FIGHT broke out between a house owner and their tenant after the tenant was given marching orders.
She allegedly refused to be evicted and went berserk destroying the landlord’s property.
The incident which pits Prince Mponda (27) and Sibekezele Sibanda (23) happened on 30 August at Prince’s house in Qeens Park West.
Mponda told a court that he notified Sibekezele that she had to vacate his place since they were not getting along.
He went on to say after that he removed her property from the room she occupied and put it outside.
Mponda said he then left for the shops and when he returned Sibekezele had left. But he said he was shocked when he entered the kitchen and saw pieces of vases on the floor and discovered that the accused person destroyed vases and other property.
He told the court: “I followed her and caught up with her at her friend’s place in Qeens Park East suburb. When I asked her why she destroyed the property she got angry and as a result a fight broke out. After that she headed to a police station where she reported that I threw her property out of the room before I assaulted her.”
He went to say police came and ordered him to take back her property into the house. He complied. He made his police report leading to the arrest of Sibekezele. She appeared before Tredgold magistrate Nomasiko Ndlovu facing a charge of malicious damage to property.
She pleaded guilty and was remanded out of custody to next week Tuesday for sentencing.
