TURKEY-based Warriors centreback Teenage Hadebe says he is unaware of the €1.5 million (US$1.8 million) offer that was reportedly made by American top-flight club Houston Dynamo for his services.

The American top-flight side are said to be in pursuit of the Warriors defender and have already approached Yeni Malatyaspor, with conversations having already begun.

“Truth be told, I’m not aware of such a particular development. I am at the moment enjoying my off-season period with the hope of coming home in early June. I’m only looking forward to meeting my close associates (Kudakwashe Mahachi, Knox Mutizwa, Devine Lunga and Danny Phiri) who play in South Africa’s DSTV League. The off-season period has always been  punctuated with those gossip stories,” said Hadebe.

Houston Dynamo’s offer was reportedly likely to be accepted, with Houston-based sports journalist Corey Hoepken all but confirming that the deal was as good as done.

Dynamo play in the Western Conference of the Major League Soccer (MSL).

Hadebe joined Malatyaspor from Kaizer Chiefs in 2019 and has been impressive for the Tukish Super Lig side.

In his debut campaign for them, the towering centreback, who can also play as a left back, was named in the division’s team of the week despite his side suffering relegation before the Turkish Football Federation lifted it.

Yeni Malatyaspor survived relegation in the Turkish topflight league despite losing their last match of the season 3-1 away to giants Galatasaray.

Malatyaspor finished the season in 15th place with 45 points, 39 points behind champions Besiktas, who beat Galatasaray to the title due to a superior goal difference.

Hadebe, a former Bantu Rovers, Highlanders and Chicken Inn player, ended the season with two goals, with his first coming last month in his side’s 1-0 win against Alanyaspor.

The defender has also been a key figure in the Warriors’ squad that qualified for the next Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals.

Following an impressive season that saw him being named in the Super Ligi’s Team of the Week twice in the last eight games, Hadebe will be hoping his performances get him a better deal in Europe.

The football star has always declared his desire to play in the English Premiership where his friend Marvelous Nakamba turns out for Aston Villa.

He played in five of the six games during a successful AFCON 2021 qualifying campaign for Zimbabwe, with the dead rubber against Zambia at the National Sports Stadium, the only one he did not take part in.
