When they decided to form a dance group in 2014, the duo of Mbongeni Nxumalo and Aaron Chikondawanga knew from the beginning that extra effort is needed for them to blow up.

It always takes more time to shape and perfect craft that is meant to be consumed by the masses to satisfaction, this is what the Soul Dudes always aimed for, to give quality entertainment to the people.

As it took six good years for the crew to finally blow up, Nxumalo revealed they were always patient and trusted the process as they believed the right time to shine will come.

Representing the group Mbongeni Nxumalo said, “Soul Dudes was formed in 2014 by myself and Aaron Chikondawanga, we started doing freestyles together and came up with routines that were liked by many respected artistes.

“Siyaya Arts of the Zambezi Express fame, Nkululeko Dube who is the founder of Iyasa and Leeknotic appreciated our dance moves and they are the people who motivated us to continue soldiering on in the dancing industry.”

The VeinsMedia dance cover challenge, which was held online last week introduced the duo to the Bulawayo audience as they took the number one spot in the competition pocketing 1 500 Zimbabwean dollars in cash.

“We are super excited and enthralled by the fact that we won at the VeinsMedia challenge, it worked for us because we were exposed to many people who have started to give us love, this means our fan base will grow,” said Nxumalo who is also the front man of Iyasa.

To add cherry on top of the cake, Soul Dudes have recruited a female dancer Palesa, who will complement the crew as the third member.

“As a way of exercising gender balance in the group, we have recruited a female dancer Palesa into the crew because she is talented and we believe she was the missing piece to complete the puzzle.

“We are looking forward to getting more gigs at corporate functions, weddings and music festivals, the bigger vision we have is to also feature in international festivals as we trust our brand can represent the country well on an international scale,” said Nxumalo.

Meanwhile, Soul Dudes will join other Bulawayo artistes including Qeqeshiwe Mntambo, DJ Prince Eskhosini, to mention a few, as they will be performing at the Credisi party on 29 August on Iyasa Facebook page.
