Local club wheel spinner DJ Prince Eskhosini is an obsessed fan of new Nkayi-based Tshibilika musician Sikhosana of the Rasta fame.
“The moment I heard Sikhosana’s music I became a fan because his music is real, it talks about things that are happening and that we see in our everyday lives,” said Eskhosini.
To pay tribute to his inspiration, DJ Prince Eskhosini has masterminded a track, which is a remix of Sikhosana’s Rasta song as a way of honouring the Gwamba rural community respected goofy timer.
The remix features veteran Bulawayo producer P 2daoh of the Bigger than Hip Hop fame and Austria-based Imbube artiste Vusa Mkhaya.
The dreadlocked wheel spinner said: ”Vusa Mkhaya did an accapella version of the Rasta song. I always admired Sikhosana’s music and after I heard Vusa singing to it, it blew me away. That’s when we decided to do the remix of the song.”
Considering the distance between the artistes on the production of the single, Eskhosini revealed that it was not a great deal to make the remix see the day despite the obstacles and lack of chemistry among them.
“It’s always hard for artistes to work on a song especially when they are located in different parts of the world. However, we managed to manoeuvre the obstacles and used social media networking to work on the track and made it successful.
“It was not a great deal for the song to be successful because we all put effort to make sure the project comes to fruition as it was an honour to a great man who is going to reshape the face of Bulawayo music,” said Eskhosini.
With a consistency of releasing hot singles lately, Eskhosini said he won’t be releasing an album because “it requires a lot of energy and currently I’m focusing on working with other local artistes to push their music to the people”.
