SANZ, a thriving fashion house in Bulawayo, was nominated in the best fashion house category ahead of the Roil Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAA) slated for 24 December at Large City Hall.
Sandile Ngwenya, who is the brains behind Sanz which was officially launched in 2020 said they were overjoyed by the recognition that they got.
“This is our first ever nomination and we feel honoured to be among the amazing designers of Bulawayo. It is a dream come true,” said Ngwenya.
The 25-year-old designer said her interests in designing were developed courtesy of unique talents that she usually sees around the world.
“I get my inspiration from creations and collections from paintings around the globe. This made me discover what I truly desire and what I’m passionate about,” said Ngwenya.
The high fashion streetwear designer once took part in the Fashion Without Borders runway show that was held in South Africa in 2021. She has worked with various artists from Bulawayo such as the jazz musician, Nonkanyiso Mabaleka.
“These past nine years in the fashion industry have been thrilling and fruitful. I have had the privilege to meet influential people that helped me establish my brand. We are currently working on a campaign for an orphanage in Bulawayo. We want to give back to the less privileged this festive season, ” she said.
