WINNERS of the Mr Bulawayo Bodybuilding Championships to be held at the Amphitheatre on 29 October will share US$7 000 in prize money, the sponsor and organisers of the competition have announced.
The remaining US$3 000 out of the total sponsorship package of US$10 000 will go towards running a smooth competition that will bring together bodybuilders from all over the country.
This is the first time the Mr Bulawayo Bodybuilding Championships is inviting bodybuilders from outside the City of Kings.
Local businessman Admire Gomera – through his Trek Filling Station franchise – is bankrolling this year’s event as bodybuilding competition makes a comeback after two years of a Covid-19 induced hiatus.
“We wanted to give the necessary incentives for bodybuilders all over the country to compete in the Mr Bulawayo Bodybuilding Championships so we hope the prize monies will be enough to bring the best athletes to Bulawayo on 29 October.
“Two years without competitions has been tough for bodybuilders so it’s important that we revive the sport through incentivised competitions that will adequately prepare our bodybuilders for regional and international events,” said Gomera.
Organising secretary for Bodybuilding Bulawayo, Simon Gama said bodybuilders from Harare, Gweru and Mutare had shown interest in taking part in the competition at the Amphitheatre on Saturday.
