THE 2020 Rainbow Amateur Netball Amateur League (RANL) season will officially get underway on 29 February, with 20 teams expected to take part.
Only two teams, Ruwa Queens and Golden Valley were relegated from the league and this year’s season will see newly promoted Khami, Support Unit, Green Fuel and Green Buffaloes coming on board.
The teams will comprise Beta, Black Rhinos, Correctional, Falcon, Glow-Kwekwe, Goldreef, Green Buffaloes, Green Fuel, Khami, Lusumbami, Mutare City, Ngezi, Platinum, PPU, Rio Zim, Support Unit, Tenax, Zimbabwe Defence Forces (ZDF), and Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP).
In a Twitter post, rainbow netball league stated:
“This year we have 20 teams from 18 last year and we are excited that we have managed to take the sport of netball to all corners of the country.”
Last year, the curtain came down on the 2019 season in November despite failure by some clubs to fulfil their fixtures.
Simbarashe Mlambo, Platinum Queen coach, was named RANL 2019 coach of the year at the inaugural end of year awards after guiding his team to second position from third last year.
Club champions Correctional Queens and their first and second runners’ up- Glow Petroleum and Platinum Queens — all collected their medals and prize money as the event closed the chapter on the inaugural Rainbow Amateur netball season.
