ZIFA Bulawayo Province Division Three newcomers Sunrise Football Club chief executive officer Cornelius Mduduzi Gumbo has revealed the club is planning to turn the field at the EMarolini Community grounds in Pumula South into a top-class facility.

Gumbo told B-Metro that the club’s vision was being facilitated by club sponsor Mkhululi Ephraim Ndimande, a businessman based in South Africa and they were in the process of acquiring the land from the Bulawayo City Council.

“We are doing a big project and our wish is that the city fathers will allow us to fulfil our dream. We are in the process of getting a lease for that place and we hope that all will go according to plan,” said Gumbo.

The club has more in their plans and the main aim of the project is to promote players at amateur level who use open space areas as changing rooms to get a world class experience like any other team in the world.

“We don’t want these players in the amateur leagues to get the feeling of changing rooms only when they manage to play in the top league or in the national team. This is something that they should experience at amateur level so that they adapt even if they go and play for bigger teams,” he said.

Sunrise Football Club has a vision of becoming a big brand by 2023.

It was founded in May 2018 by co-directors Cornelius Mduduzi Gumpo and Mkhululi Ndimande.

The club was officially launched in December 2018. It registered under Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) Bulawayo Province Division Three last season and it is on position eight on the log standings.

“We are in our second season this year, although it’s not pleasing but we hope everything will be fine as the season progresses. We are so thankful to the Pumula South community for the support they are giving to the young boys during the matches,” said Gumbo.

The club, whose vision is to promote growth in the junior league, is appealing to corporates and well wishers to engage with them in their vision which also targets to empower the girl child as well by 2023.
