A Bulawayo City player caused a scene in Mzilikazi suburb as he head-butted a neighbour at the height of a misunderstanding and was later accused of stealing cash.

A court heard Gerald Ngulube (23), a forward for the BCC side, felt he was belittled by a neighbour during an argument and that seemed to have stoked anger in him resulting in a brawl.

It is said he grabbed his neighbour Lawrence Mwale (36) and scored hard with his tough head in Lawrence’s mouth.

The court head blood gushed out of the wound and his teeth got loose.

The court heard during the commotion Gerald allegedly stole US$60 and R150 from Lawrence.

A report was made at a police station leading to the arrest of Gerald.

He appeared before magistrate Marrygold Ndlovu. He pleaded guilty to assault but not guilty to the theft charge.

He took to the stand: “Your worship, I apologise for head-butting my neighbour and I blame myself because anger got the better of me.”

On the second count he said: “I deny that I stole his money because the incident happened where there were lot of people and someone could have taken it.”

The magistrate found him guilty of assault and fined him $1 200. Gerald was acquitted on the theft charge.
