CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League February, March and April monthly award winners are yet to get their monetary rewards, B Metro Sport has learnt.
Chicken Inn head coach Joey Antipas was recognised for guiding his team to a solid start in the 2021-2022 season after he was voted Coach of the Month for February and March.
Antipas was confirmed as the leading coach in the topflight league for successive months when the Premier Soccer League released the results of the monthly awards.
The former Warriors interim head coach was rewarded for leading his team on a run of seven games unbeaten in the first two months after the resumption of the PSL campaign following the AFCON 2021 break. Chicken Inn forward Brian Muza won the Player Of The Month accolade for February while free-scoring Caps United striker William Manondo scooped the award for March. Dynamos’ Tonderai Ndiraya and Bill Antonio were voted coach and player of the month for April respectively.
Given their performance in April, it was no surprise that the DeMbare duo did it.
While PSL spokesperson Kudzai Bare was not immediately available for a comment, without mentioning figures, a source within the PSL corridors said that the league accounts department was making frantic efforts to pay the coaches and the players that excelled in the last three months.
“Yes, it’s true the coaches and the players that excelled in February, March and April are yet to get their rewards. Follow ups have been made with the PSL accounts department which is making frantic efforts to pay the monthly awards recipients,” said a source.
