THE Castle Lager Premier Soccer League has reached the 106 goal mark. CAPS United’s William Manondo took his goal tally to eight, one ahead of Chicken Inn’s Brian Muza who was not on target when the Gamecocks posted a 0-2 away victory against Ngezi Platinum Stars.
Manondo found his eighth goal of the season when Makepekepe edged Herentals 3-2 on a day Muza, a former Talen Vision forward, turned provider to help his fellow teammate Brett Amidu grab a brace against the Mhondoro based Ngezi Platinum Stars.
“I reckon its early days yet, but I know my job is to score goals. It’s all about team work and I’m happy to say last weekend I assisted my teammate Brett Amidu to score a brace and we won as a team.
However, my target is to score as many goals as I can. So far, its seven goals from nine games for me of which it’s not bad,” said Muza
Also on seven goals is Ngezi’s Nyasha Chintuli. Three players, Highlanders vice-captain Nqobizitha Masuku, Lloyd Katongomara of Manica Diamonds and Jayden Barake are tied on five goals.
Former Soccer Star of The Year Rodwell Chinyengetere, who made a move from FC Platinum to CAPS United, found his fourth goal of the season last weekend.
He is in the same bracket with his ex-FC Platinum teammate Donald Ngoma who now does duty for Triangle and Tichaona Mabvura of Manica Diamonds.
Winger Delic Murimba (Ngezi Platinum), John Zhuwawo (Herentals) and Ghanaian striker Emmanuel Zengayire Paga (Dynamos) are all on three goals. Twenty-four players from different outfits have found the back of the net twice.
