AMBITIOUS Premier Soccer League outfit Bulawayo Chiefs are reportedly set to hire a Portuguese coach to take over from the sacked Thulani Sibanda.

Last week, the Ninjas severed ties with their coaches led by Sibanda with earlier reports linking former Tsholotsho FC and FC Platinum coach Lizwe Sweswe and former Zimbabwe international Agent Sawu.

Sibanda and his assistants Effort Murindagumo and Zivanai Chivanzi were booted out of Chiefs in a shock move after assembling a formidable side that played in the first-half of the Chibuku Super Cup in June before sport was again suspended due to a spike in Covid-19 infections.

“Chiefs are closing in on a Portuguese coach to take over from Thulani Sibanda. The deal is almost complete,” said a source.

Amakhosi Amahle are at the moment under the guidance of Mark Mathe who parted ways with Zifa Southern Region Division One side Talen Vision.

Meanwhile, Chiefs have proved to be too busy in the market with their latest acquisition being another former Chicken Inn player Sipho Ndlovu.

Ndlovu (26) recently recovered from a knee injury which resulted in him being deregistered for the Chibuku Cup by Gamecocks.

At Chiefs, Ndlovu has reunited with his former Gamecocks teammate Ian Nekati, who joined Amakhosi Amahle three weeks ago
