ZIMBABWE football champions FC Platinum will on Saturday march into the cauldron of Barbourfields Stadium in a make or break Caf Champions League Group B encounter against Horoya Athletic Club of Guinea.

The match will kick off at 3pm, Zimbabwean time.

The platinum miners are smarting from a 2-0 away defeat at the hands of Africa’s inter club football defending champions, Esperance of Tunisia.

FC Platinum have one point from two Group B games. They drew at home with South African giants, Orlando Pirates.

Horoya, who arrived in the country last week Friday and established camp in Harare before shifting to Bulawayo, are also a bruised lot having been clobbered 3-0 by Orlando Pirates in South Africa.

The result condemned the 16-time Guinean champions to the bottom of the group.

“Our preparations for our third group match are going on well. We were initially scheduled to start camp in Bulawayo on Tuesday but Bulawayo City Council (BCC) indicated that they wanted to have a touch up on the Barbourfields turf, we delayed to shift base to our second home (Bulawayo) from Zvishavane,” said FC Platinum media liaison officer Chido Chizondo.

Norman Mapeza’s men were expected in the City of Kings and Queens on Thursday.   Pure Platinum Play were made to abandon their home ground, Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane for the group games after it was condemned.

“At the moment there are no injury worries in our camp and the coach has maintained that since we are very new in this campaign the players should go into the field of play and enjoy themselves,” added Chizondo

Horoya, who were quarter-finalists in the last edition of the tournament, have had a poor start in this year’s group stage campaign after drawing at home with holders Esperance of Tunisia and then losing by a bigger margin away to Orlando Pirates in Johannesburg.

Ahead of the trip to Zimbabwe, the team was boosted by the return of their Senegalese goalkeeper Khadim Ndiaye from injury while Guinean international Samuel Conte also came in to bolster the squad as they seek to recover from the thumping by Pirates.

The gate charges for Saturday’s epic clash against Horoya are pegged at $5 for the lowest priced ticket, $10 for the wings and $20 for the VIP.

Gates will be open at 11 am and EcoCash payments will be made at entry points.
