IN the wake of a Facebook post supposedly by their first-choice goalkeeper and team captain Ariel “Mangoye” Sibanda that he was parting ways with Highlanders, the club’s chief executive officer Nhlanhla Dube has said that does not characterise the way their skipper does things.

The post which has been trending since the early hours of Tuesday read: “I feel very sad now as I have to leave the club that I love, I would have loved to say goodbye to a fully packed BF but I’m grateful to everyone who loved and supported me during my 13 years with the club. I wish the team a very good season when the league resumes.”

Following financial unrest at the former league champions a number of Highlanders senior players have on condition of anonymity confided that they were contemplating seeking greener pastures.

Reached for a comment on the alleged departure of Sibanda, Dube said: “I’m none the wiser. I am not active on Facebook. Only saw it now too. My initial reaction is that it doesn’t represent how Ariel does things though.”

Highlanders’ communications and media officer said the post had also caught him by surprise.

“I saw the post too. I’m trying to call him (Ariel Sibanda), his phone is off,” Sibanda.

According to a player source close to Sibanda, the veteran goalminder had openly told a number of his teammates that the situation at the club was frustrating him day in and day out.

“Everyone is worried now about why his mobile phone has suddenly gone off. However, he has been openly telling us that he is getting frustrated each passing day. I’m gathering that the members of the technical department and secretariat are thinking of going to visit him at his Nketa 6 residence,” said one Bosso player on condition of anonymity.
