OK Grand Challenge nominees out

NOMINATIONS for the OK Grand Challenge race pencilled in for 5 June at Borrowdale racecourse are out.

The provisional list is made up of 31 runners vying for a place among the final field to be selected shortly.

As anticipated, horses that have been performing well lately in their assignments have been thrown into the hat by their respective stables.
From this list the highest rated runner is Tandava merit rated (103) after being forwarded by the yard of Gokhan Terzi.

The second runner on the ratings table is Peggson training under the watchful eye of Bridget Stidolph stable rated (98), while Daffiq under the tutelage of Terzi sits on position three.

As usual these runners will go through the mandatory pre-race qualifying stages which are the Weight and Draws as well as the final acceptances stage.
Once these obstacles are over a race card will be printed paving way for the punters as well as shoppers to scratch their heads in search of a possible winner from the lot.

Once again followers of the sport will be taken down memory lane to yesteryears where large fields of 12 horses or more were fighting for the prizes every fortnight, a scenario that would set the race course on fire much to the joy of the fans.

The OK Grand Grade (2) race is the most followed racing competition in the domestic calendar, as such it usually attracts big guns from across Limpopo who come to compete.
