CAPS United is burning and coach Llyod Chitembwe rightfully said he is facing the biggest challenge of his career.

Chitembwe doesn’t easily throw in the towel.

But the current happenings at the Harare giants are not for the faint hearted and the history making coach can be forgiven if he decides to walk away from Caps United.

Both on the field and boardroom squabbles are threatening to tear apart the club.

First it was the six-goal drubbing at the hands of Manica Diamonds.

Then the players mooted a boycott ahead of their match against Cranborne Bullets, which they went on to lose at the National Sports Stadium.

The problems just seem to be mounting day after day.

“I think this will obviously rank among one of the poorest phases of my football career,” said Chitembwe.

“It’s very deflecting and disappointing. From the result view point, I thought it’s extremely disappointing”.

Numbers don’t lie and Makepekepe are certainly sinking.

Caps United have managed a paltry five wins from 18 games and are languishing in unfamiliar territory on position 14, with chances of dropping into the relegation zone a real possibility very soon.

From a possible 54 points, Chitembwe and his boys have managed to collect just 17, recording nine defeats along the way.

This weekend the team takes on Harare City at the National Sports Stadium, ironically the same team that Chitembwe ditched to rejoin Caps United.
