BULAWAYO Chiefs new signings Ian Nekati and Sipho Ndlovu are ineligible to do duty for Amakhosi Amahle amid revelations that the club will only be able to register them next year in January.
Nekati and Ndlovu joined Bulawayo Chiefs from Chicken Inn just before the resumption of the Chibuku Super Cup contest.
“It’s unfortunate we were not able to get Ian and Sipho registered. We only managed to get Elvis Moyo registered.
Ian and Sipho will only get registered next year,” said Chiefs coach Mark Mathe.
With only over a week following the resumption of the Chibuku Super Cup, the Ninjas are yet to appoint a head coach, but confirmed that Mathe, brought a month ago, will be an assistant to an unnamed incoming foreign head coach.
Bulawayo Chiefs parted ways with Thulani “Thuts” Sibanda. The club has also been linked with former Highlanders utility player Abraham Mbaiwa, who is said to be coming as a fitness trainer.
The club recently advertised a job looking for candidates who are holders of a diploma in strength and conditioning, sports science, physical education or kinesiology. Mbaiwa is a sports science and coaching graduate from the National University of Science and Technology (Nust).
Last Sunday, Chiefs were beaten 2-1 by Bulawayo City while Highlanders held Chicken Inn to a one all draw in Group One Chibuku Super Cup matches.
It was City’s first win in the competition. Chiefs are yet to register a win. Gamecocks and Bosso have already advanced to the competition’s quarter-finals.
