Many at times, it’s always believed that “only” education has the power to open doors and to take anybody from a peripheral setting to the First world.

Talent is always discouraged when one is growing up.

“You will never go anywhere with your talent!”

Many can attest they have heard this phrase when they were growing up.

However, if nurtured well, talent can take one wherever they desire.

Multi-award-winning performer Mzoe 7’s recent trip from Entumbane to Dallas, Texas, United States of America, is a testimony that a black African child can achieve anything despite their background.

For the first time, the Asambeni hitmaker boarded a plane and made stops in two countries to finally reach America.

It was a life-changing experience.

“The trip was actually my first to leave the beautiful continent of Africa. It essentially felt very different and I was pretty much excited to go and see the other side of the world.

“We took off at Harare International Airport and made a stop in Zambia. We then had our connecting flight from Lusaka to Dubai and went straight to Dallas, America,” said Mzoe 7.

His experience in America was greatly highlighted through his performances alongside fellow Zimbabwean Sandra Ndebele and Tocky Vibes.

He said there was a huge gap between America and Zimbabwe in as far as the entertainment industry and its dynamics were concerned.

“I had a great experience in Dallas. I performed at different places, atmospheres and crowds. We had our A-team kind of performance, more energy, dance-filled acts that actually brought crowds to life.

“In America, they value the entertainment industry and its artistes so much. Their industry is very much empowered through technology and they are ahead of us. We still have a long way to go in trying to monetise our craft as Zimbabweans,” said Mzoe 7.

More international tours and collaborations are on the cards.

“I met a talented artiste Vuye in the States and we shared the stage. We are planning on working on projects that will be ready to be distributed to the masses soon.

“In a few months, I will be returning to America for tours as I have established more connections with promoters, producers and other artistes who have a keen interest in working with Zimbabwean artistes,” said Mzoe 7.

He thanked Sandra Ndebele for mentoring and guiding him in his musical career.
