Triple platinum selling Nketa-bred producer Murphy Cubic still proves he is a man to reckon with in the African music scene as once again he has produced a banger of a song for South African artistes Speedy and Nhlanhla Nciza.

The song is titled Khumbula.

Speedy is a founding member of South African legendary Kwaito group Bongo Maffin and Nhlanhla Nciza is part of multi-award-winning immortal Mzansi group Mafikizolo.

Khumbula is Speedy’s latest single that re-announces his solo career path.

Nigerian music distribution company describes Khumbula as, “an experimental traditional Afro Pop sound fused with elements of Afro Beat, that gives the song a great continental and international appeal”.

In an interview with this reporter early this year, Murphy Cubic made it clear that he wanted to conquer the African continent with his beat-making and production prowess.

He said Khumbula was a testimony that he had begun the journey of charming Africa from Bulawayo to Cairo, not forgetting Mzansi which gives him much exposure.

“Khumbula was experimental. When I produced the instrumental, Speedy was the first person to ring on my head because I knew he would do justice to my creation.

“When he told me that he is planning to rope in Nhlanhla on the song, I just declared it a hit before it was even recorded. The song is a testament of what I want to achieve in the African continent,” said Murphy Cubic.

Both Speedy and Nhlanhla belong to the late 90s generation which introduced Kwaito in Mzansi penetrating right up to Bulawayo and the rest of world, and Murphy said he was humbled to work with them.

Though they did not meet physically in the production of the song (as it was composed virtually), Murphy said he was proud to have been part of the production.

“The two, Speedy and Nhlanhla, started this music thing way back before I was even born. Working with them on this project meant a lot to me because I managed to cover the generation gap and produced something that can be accepted by different generations.

“These two are evergreen, the way they do justice on a production is amazing. I wish such spirit can be bestowed to other younger artistes because I believe artistes can achieve a lot through collaborations,” said Murphy Cubic.

Speedy is preparing to drop his solo album and Murphy Cubic is the major producer of the project having produced six songs including Khumbula.
