Nketa-bred wheel spinner-cum-producer Kesani Mefibosheth Ncube, also known as Murphy Cubic, is a man on a mission who will only stop when his dreams come to fruition.

The 24-year-old producer who boasts of a South African Music Awards (Sama) nomination courtesy of Holly Rey’s two nominations on this year’s awards revealed that the achievements he had so far inspired him to continue doing more.

Holly Rey’s album also granted Murphy a Gold certified record as the project he played a pivotal role in has since sold over 40 000 copies.
The success he accomplished in Jozi has influenced and made him realise that the challenges and obstacles in the Bulawayo music industry can shatter artistes’ dreams.

He revealed to B-Metro that he didn’t want to stop doing production magic in Mzansi only, but was looking to riding the international wave.

“Being born and raised in Zimbabwe and knowing the challenges we face as artistes has made me prefer working in Jozi because here there are many opportunities in learning more about music and the business side of it.

“With all that has happened in my short stay in Jozi I have come up with a goal of not limiting myself. I want to move out of the comfort zone and eye an international market. I want to be among the greatest musos from Africa to the world,” said Murphy Cubic from his base in Johannesburg.

Murphy Cubic has not deserted artistes from back home. The Covid-19 lockdown, which has seen the borders closed, has delayed him in fulfilling numerous projects with Bulawayo artistes.

“Home will always come first to me despite everything. However, the lockdown has delayed me in many projects. I was looking forward to working on five albums with artistes from back home. I hope to achieve that soon,” said Murphy Cubic.

His stay in the city of gold has seen him rubbing shoulders with Mzansi’s most respected music masterminds including sound engineers Keys Snow, Big Sky, DJ Qness, Manu WorldStar and former Ambitiouz Records’ Saudi and Emtee.

Locally he has produced for award winning songstress Lee McHoney, MJ Sing and Boy Nino on his latest song No Problems featuring rapper Emtee.
