UNHERALDED Ngezi Platinum Stars’ Bruno Mtigo is leading the Chibuku Super Cup top goal scorers chart with six goals.

Mtigo’s prowess in front of goal has helped the Mhondoro-based football outfit progress to the cup’s quarter-final stage.

Last year, Ngezi Platinum Stars were edged one nil by Highlanders in the final match of the Chibuku Super Cup at Barbourfields Stadium.

Former CAPS United forward Ishmael Wadi, who now plays for South Africa’s National First Division side JDR Stars, has four goals under his name.

The 28-year-old striker has been a revelation at GladAfrica Championship side JDR Stars after scoring five goals in six matches.

Wadi’s goals have been a major driving force for the promotion-chasing Pretoria-based club which is in fourth position on the standings, just a point behind surprise leaders Hungry Lions.

The Zimbabwean striker joined JDR Stars at the beginning of the season on a two-year deal from CAPS United after impressing during a brief trial stint and has been quick in showcasing his abilities.

According to South African football magazine, Kick-Off, Johannesburg-based clubs are following the progress of the gifted forward.

Reports indicate that should Wadi continue with his goal-scoring prowess, he might make a move to the South African topflight league during the January transfer window period.

The speedy winger is among three Zimbabweans at JDR Stars. One of them is Aces Youth Soccer Academy product Tapiwa Mandinyenya, who joined the club at the beginning of the season, and midfielder Temptation Chiwunga.

Wadi has previously been with Harare City, Bulawayo City, FC Platinum, Black Mambas and Caps United back home.

He remains one of the top scorers in the ongoing Chibuku Cup where he had scored four goals in six matches before leaving while the competition was on hold.

Also on four Chibuku Super Cup goals is FC Platinum’s Rodwell Chinyengetere, Harare City’s William Manondo and Ngezi Platinum Stars’ Denver Mukamba.

Marlvin Hwata (Cranborne Bullets), Silas Songani (FC Platinum), Clive Rupiya (Harare City), Brighton Majarira (Herentals), Farai Mugumwa (Tenax CS) Delic Murimba (Triangle United) and Godknows Mangani (Yadah FC) are all tied on three goals.
