Miss Deaf Pride Zimbabwe Finals has been contested to its finale with Face of Miss Deaf Pride Zimbabwe and Queen Takudzwa Phiri (Gweru), 1st Princess Talent Sibanda (Bulawayo), 2nd Princess and People’s choice Natasha Sibanda (Harare), earning themselves lavish rewards and a plus point, an extravagant trip to the city which never sleeps, and three nights at Daisy Lodge.

Grace Madanhire earned herself the Ambassador post in the Miss Deaf Pride Zimbabwe. The peaceful pageant has run its course, finest deaf and proud models from all corners of Zimbabwe cat-walked at a universal ramp in Bulawayo Rainbow Hotel last Saturday giving it their all, but at the end of a race there has to be one winner.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce Raj Modi graced the occasion by crowning the frontrunners’ maiden pageant.

While modelling has seen many low budget up-and-coming pageants rising in Zimbabwe, Miss Deaf Pride Zimbabwe sang a different tune with its logistics and preparations orderly done.

This year’s podium will be spoilt with a vacation to the United States of America, New York City dubbed as Gotham and a whole lot more in store, money prizes of up to $10 000, laptops, smartphones, among others. Thembile Miga, the spokesperson of the pageant said: “The Queen, Takudzwa Phiri will then represent the country in the Miss Deaf Africa contest which will be held this December in Seychelles.

“Well, it wouldn’t be a successful tale if it was one sided, we were let down by some sponsors who bailed out in the 12th hour. However, the show was successful.

“Keeping in mind that this was a debut of its nature, from now on we are looking forward to what happens next year,” she concluded.
