Mazwai tears into Jerusalema

Langalakhe Mabena
Controversial and outspoken South African poet Ntsiki Mazwai set the streets of Twitter ablaze early this week claiming that Nomcebo Zikode must get her 50 percent share of the song Jerusalema which she collaborated on with Master KG.

This comes as the smash hit is making headlines as the most trending song on the continent courtesy of its Jerusalema dance challenge which has charmed many including Cristiano Ronaldo and Burna Boy, among some well known individuals.

Locally, the song has charmed many companies and institutes who have since joined on the frenzy of the Jerusalema dance challenge.

These include Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation Television (ZBC Tv), Greens Supermarket Bulawayo, Maita Media, and the Ministry of Youth, to mention only a few.

On her Twitter account, Mazwai posted, “I hope Zikode (Nomcebo) is having her 50% slice of the cake for featuring on Master KG’s Jerusalema song (sic).”

Mazwai’s sentiments generated a massive number of negative responses on her post with some Twitter users giving her a nickname

“Pinocchio”, one who pokes her nose into other people’s business.

One Twitter user identified as Thapelo responded to Mazwai’s Tweet, “Jealousy will send you to hell, the song is doing well and as the things look, Nomcebo is comfortable with the deal she has with KG, stop minding other people’s business.”

Nomcebo did not respond to questions sent to her by this reporter on her email by the time the paper went for publication. However, it looks as if she has a fruitful relationship with Master KG and she is comfortable with whatever arrangement she has with him.
