A married woman who has been enduring slaps and kicks by her husband in front of their children has applied for a protection order against her man.

Tabeth Moyo (26) of Luveve suburb told a court that her husband, Melusi Tshuma (39), was an abusive man in the habit of hurling insults at her whenever he was drunk.

She said her husband would do that in the presence of their minor children something that she said affected them emotionally.

Tabeth said she had tried to engage her husband but her efforts were in vain. She went on to reveal that whenever her husband was from a booze he launched a verbal tirade at her leading to an argument between the two. Tshuma would then bash her while accusing her of disrespecting him.

In her founding affidavit Tabeth said: “I am applying for a protection order against my husband Melusi Tshuma. Whenever he comes from a night club he would shout at me while accusing me of being a lazy woman.

When I respond to that he would get angry and assault me with fists. He would also kick me all over the body.

I have had enough of the abuse. I appeal to this court to intervene and order him to stop physically and emotionally abusing me,” said Tabeth.

The presiding magistrate Jeconia Prince Ncube granted Tabeth a protection order against her husband. Melusi was ordered to refrain from physically and emotionally abusing his wife.
