EX-Warriors captain Norman Mapeza has bounced back in the Warriors set-up as interim head coach.
Mapeza, who had found himself in a dilemma to either choose to become Warriors coach or stay in his current role at the helm of FC Platinum, replaces Zdravko Logarusic who was dismissed on Sunday.
“Done and dusted agreement reached, Mapeza is back as interim coach of the Warriors, details to follow. Short three-month contract for Mapeza will cover the four World Cup qualifiers in October and November while Zifa look for a substantive coach,” said a source.
ZIFA reportedly approached Mapeza, who in response, referred them to his employers FC Platinum for negotiations.
The Platinum miners were, according to sources, not willing to let Mapeza become Warriors coach and be their coach at the same time, meaning they did not want a sharing arrangement for the former Chippa United coach.
Mapeza will be given special leave, by his club FC Platinum, for national duty.
And should he impress, he could be considered to take charge of the 2021 AFCON finals in Cameroon, next January.
His assistant coaches will be Triangle FC coach Taurai Mangwiro and Highlanders gaffer Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu. The newly appointed goalkeepers coach is Energy Murambadoro who is attached to Chicken Inn
