LYING does not pay, a Bulawayo woman found out after her husband throttled her and stabbed her several times after she told him she was at a party when she was boozing at a hotel in the city centre.

The incident happened at Emthunzini suburb in Bulawayo.

Leonard Chaima (35), an artisanal miner at a mine in Nkayi came home unexpectedly and found his wife, Faith Ndlovu, absent.

He called her and she told him that she was at a party in Pumula North suburb.

Chaima said: “She came at around 8pm and told me she was attending a party which was hosted by her friend, but I was suspicious of all that.

“The following day I browsed through her phone and I was shocked as I stumbled on WhatsApp messages showing that she was at a hotel in town.”

Chaima said after that he got angry and beat her.

Efforts to get a comment from Ndlovu were fruitless.

An insider said Chaima went berserk and reached for a kitchen knife which he used to frenziedly stab her.

“He stabbed her several times on the body including the chest and the head, leaving her with multiple stab wounds,” said the insider.

A neighbour came and rushed Ndlovu to the hospital.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident.

He urged couples to engage relatives, pastors or police’s Victim Friendly Unit (VFU) to solve their domestic dispute rather than to engage in violence.
