A man from Cowdray Park suburb has been arrested for allegedly stabbing his neighbour with an Okapi knife in the stomach and leaving his intestines protruding after a fight over a woman.
A source close to the incident said Levy Ndlovu (34) bumped into his neighbour Shelton Ndlovu (32)) in front of the gate of his lover’s place.
What made Levy’s blood boil was seeing Shelton clutching his girlfriend’s hat and a neck lace.
“Upon asking him what he was doing at the gate, Shelton did not mince his words as he told him straight to his face that he was waiting for his lover,” the source said.
The response did not go down well with Levy who moved closer to him before grabbing him by his neck.
“They fought and Levy was too fast for him, seeing that blows were coming thick and fast, Shelton reached for his Okapi knife and stabbed him twice in the stomach and left intestines protruding.
Blood gushed from the stab wounds.
He fell to the ground and cried for help,” said a neighbour who requested not to be named.
The neighbour reported the incident to the police leading to the arrest of Shelton.
Detectives attended the scene and discovered an Okapi knife and it is being kept as an exhibit.
Levy was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital for medical attention.
A family member who requested not to be named as he was not cleared to talk to B-Metro said he (Levy) is in the Intensive Care Unit.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and advised community members never to take law into their hands.
“We urge members of the public to engage relatives, pastors or police’s Victim Friendly Unit whenever they are faced with a dispute,” he said.
