AN attempt by a woman from Bulawayo’s Northend suburb to play peacemaker in a domestic dispute between her mother and stepfather turned nasty when the latter severely punched her several times in the face with fists.

Yolanda Musasa (23) was trying to help her mother when she was beaten by her stepfather Prosper Mupa (55).

Allegations are that on 12 November 2021 and at around 9 am Mupa had a misunderstanding with his wife when Yolanda intervened. That reportedly didn’t go down well with Mupa who became angry.

It is alleged that in a fit of anger, Mupa assaulted Yolanda several times in the face with open hands and fists.

Yolanda reportedly sustained injuries as a result of the attack and she was referred to hospital for medical attention.  She later went and reported the matter at ZRP Kumalo leading to her stepfather’s arrest.

For the offence Mupa has since appeared in court charged with physical abuse as defined in Section 3 (1) (a) as read with Section 4 of the Domestic Violence Act Chapter 5:16.

He was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to November 30 on $6 000 bail.
