THE body of the unidentified man was discovered in Mzilikazi suburb in Bulawayo on Sunday near Mazayi bridge by a passerby.

The passerby informed the police who are now calling upon families with missing male relatives that are aged around 60 to visit Mzilikazi Police Station and assist in identifying the body.

The body had injuries on the left leg, a small cut on the back of the head and bruises on the hand.

There were also some struggle marks observed from a nearby tarred road to the storm drain where the deceased was found, indicating that the person might have been hit by a car and then dragged into the ditch.

The person had no identity card but he was someone who had been last seen on the previous day in a drunken state around that area.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged the public to carry identity cards.

“I can confirm that a man was found dead in Mzilikazi. We are calling upon the members of the public who might have a missing person aged around 60 to visit Mzilikazi Police Station. The body was taken to United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for post-mortem.

“We also urge members of the public to carry some form of identification so that they can easily be identified in cases of emergency,” he said.
