A 20-YEAR-OLD man from Mzilikazi suburb in Bulawayo was arrested for allegedly “deflowering” a 15-year-old girl after he took her to his house for a sleep-over.
The incident was reported to the police by the victim’s mother after she unexpectedly came back home and discovered that her daughter who is doing Form Two at Sobukhazi High School was not present.
It was gathered that on 8 August 2021 Thabo Ndlovu went to the girl’s place in Makokoba suburb. He lured the girl, who was his girlfriend, to accompany him to his place.
It is reported that after being smooth-talked, the victim agreed and accompanied Thabo to his place.
Upon arrival Thabo took the minor girl to his bedroom where he reportedly caressed her before he ordered her to remove her clothes. In the process Thabo is also alleged to have undressed and the two lay on the floor where they allegedly had sexual intercourse once.
The matter, however, came to light after the girl’s mother unexpectedly came back home and discovered that her daughter was not there and after she inquired from neighbours, she was told that her daughter was at her boyfriend’s place.
When she went there, she reportedly found her and upon questioning her she revealed that she was invited by Thabo for a sleep-over. The matter was reported to the police leading to Thabo’s arrest and the girl was also taken to hospital where medical examination established that she had been “deflowered”.
For the offence Thabo was dragged to court charged with a crime of having sexual intercourse with a minor as defined in section 70 of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
He was not asked to plead and was remanded out of custody to 24 September on $6 000 bail.
