If ambitious was a person, it would be Makhoe Drey!

Ntabazinduna-born Afro-pop sensation Makhosini Dominic Nkomo otherwise known as Makhoe Drey in music circles has broken boundaries by a collaboration with Urban Grooves guru Desmond “Stunner” Chideme on a song titled Ma’Wengane Zami.

The song is about appreciating women who are loyal and important to their men.

The Australia-based artiste who grew up listening to Urban Grooves and a fan to Stunner, revealed that he always had a wish to do a song with someone whom he admired.

Even though Stunner toured Australia many times in his music career, Makhoe Drey never met him.

Thanks to the internet, the Ntabazinduna boy was humble to search for Stunner on social media.

“I grew up listening to local stations like Power FM, which mostly played Urban Grooves music, and Stunner was a regular on playlists, he somehow inspired me to be as ambitious and successful as he is in music.

“He sometimes came to Australia to perform but I never really met with him in person, so when I decided to do a song that will accommodate the Ndebele and Shona audience Stunner was the first person to come into my mind, thus, leading to me looking for him on social media and the rest is history,” said Makhoe Drey.

As his album is still in the oven, Makhoe Drey revealed that he wanted to connect with other nations through music and he revealed that collaborations would be the best instrument to to achieve his dreams.

He has worked with almost equally ambitious South African fast rising artiste Njabulo SA and Botswana’s Charmer Girl.

“I told myself that music is universal therefore, for me to break new ground for my music to be appreciated in other nations I have to do it through collaborations. This is my drive that led to working with Stunner, Njabulo RSA and Charmer Girll.

“I am still looking for more collabos with African artistes because I believe we can uplift the face of African music through working together,” said Makhoe Drey.

His first album will be released in August.
