A maid from Bulawayo has been arrested after she was accused of stealing her employer’s clothes.

The issue came out when Precious Nyoni who resides in Matshemhlophe suburb appeared before magistrate Linear Khumalo charged with theft. She was not asked to plead and was remanded in custody.

Her employer Victor Ngwenya reported her to the police after he caught her with some of his missing clothes.

Allegations are that on 23 June 2021 Ngwenya received two drums with clothes, shoes and cosmetics from the United Kingdom. He then noted everything down and locked the room where the clothes were kept.

On 1 September 2021, Ngwenya entered the room and discovered that some of the clothes were missing. He interrogated Nyoni on the missing clothes and she denied taking any of the items. He then proceeded to her cottage and searched her room and that is when he recovered some of the clothes.

The matter was reported to the police leading to Nyoni’s arrest and her subsequent appearance in court.
