Laugh at him, but he is preparing for the future!
Award-winning Tshibilika musician Madlela Skhobokhobo has come up with an initiative of saving for the future — he has successfully launched a registered transportation company, Dlelas Deliveries.
Dlelas Deliveries is a malayitsha (cross-border) transportation business, transporting goods from the neighbouring South Africa to Bulawayo and Plumtree. They do door-to-door deliveries.
The company also does instant money transfers.
It targets everyone from all walks of life and corporates.
Madlela is aware of the scams and fallouts that come with his choice of investment and he is gambling with his image in exchange of ensuring quality services.
“During lockdown I noticed that it was hard for people especially in the diaspora to send goods and money to their beloved ones back home.
“So, this opportunity inspired me to start the Dlelas Deliveries company not only to serve the people but to also prepare for the future as there is life after music.
“We are not only targeting individuals but we are also attracting companies as we also transport any form of goods from groceries, building materials and heavy machinery,” said Madlela.
A lot of people who use omalayitsha as a mode of transporting goods cry foul after being tricked, or their goods damaged or at worst, lost.
Madlela assured those who will use his company’s services of no excuses and bad service, as other omalayitsha are known for.
“We are a registered company and we assure our customers good services. If your goods are damaged or lost, Dlelas Deliveries will provide compensation for lost or damaged goods.
“It’s hard to trust people with money these days and we are aware of that. We have managed to set up money transfer branches in South Africa and Bulawayo so that our clients can be able to access money during business hours,” said Madlela.
He hopes that his initiative would inspire other artistes to prepare for the future and not become a laughing stock when their careers are over without proper investments.
