A 15-member armed gang pounced at Inyoka mine on the outskirts of Bulawayo and stripped a guard of his shirt before they thrashed him all over the body while ordering him to vacate the mine.

The incident happened shortly after midnight on Monday this week.

The gang was armed with machetes, stones and sjambok. And they were traveling in a white Toyota Vigo.

One of the gang members is said to have grabbed the security guard by his hand while another one seized him by his shirt before he stripped him of it, leaving him shirtless. After that they thrashed him with a sjambok all over the body while ordering him to vacate the mine.

The hapless security guard screamed for help but his cries were not heard because there was no one in the vicinity.

The gang took off in their car, leaving the guard lying on the ground.

Later on, the guard limped to a nearby homestead and asked to make a call to his boss.
