POLICE in Bulawayo arrested a three-member machete gang which was terrorising a miner in Hope Fountain on the outskirts of Bulawayo.
Khulumani Ncube, Themba Chirwa and Honest Dube (ages not given) were arrested for threatening Last Sibanda (34) who stays in Cowdray Park and employed at Inyoka Ndabeni Syndicate Mine in Hope Fountain.
The trio had since appeared in court and before Bulawayo magistrate Marygold Ndlovu charged with intimidation as defined in Section (45) (b) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act Chapter 9:23.
They all pleaded guilty and were remanded out of custody to November 22 for sentencing and on $3 000 bail each.
The court heard that on 4 November 2021 and at around 11:30 am the trio proceeded to the road which Sibanda uses when performing his duties and blocked him.
While blocking him, they were threatening him and instructing him to return back.
The court further heard that in the process the trio were carrying machetes, knobkerries and catapult. One of the accuseds then threw a stone which hit the complainant’s car.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the trio’s arrest and their subsequent appearance in court.
