SUNGURA doyen Alick Macheso will be performing in Bulawayo at the weekend as part of his nationwide tour to spread the taste of his latest offering Tinosvitswa Nashe (God will get us there).

The six-track album which gives honour to God for His guidance in every aspect of people’s day to day routines and already making waves in the entertainment scene was launched at Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza on June 10.

Macheso’s show will be held at the Eyardin Park and he will be backed by his Orchestra Mberikwazvo Band.

Show organiser Wellington Chikoore aka Boss Chicco of the CF Entertainment said they were happy to have Macheso in the City of Kings and Queens, five years since he last performed in the city.

“People in Bulawayo have been waiting for this album. We have hopes that they will enjoy his act. What makes this gig special is that the nation will be also celebrating the life of our national hero Dr Joshua Mqabuko Nyongolo Nkomo. Macheso has specifically requested that date as a way of remembering one of our late national icons together with his multitude of fans in Bulawayo and surrounding areas,” said Chikoore.

“It’s almost five years since Orchestra Mberikwazvo last performed in the city of Kings and Queens, a situation which was also worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic and as such this is a very special moment for his fans in Bulawayo to come and celebrate with one of their local music icons.

“Fans should not worry about the prevailing cold weather as gas heaters and braziers (imbawula/mbaura) will be available,” said Chikoore.

He said gates would open at midday until the next morning adding that security would be tight to enable fans to enjoy the show without any fear of losing their property.

“There is going to be a VVIP shade, VIP shade and the general shade so everyone is catered for.

The event will be graced by one of the finest bands and DJs from Bulawayo, Fusion Band, DJ Mzoe, DJ Nospa, DJ Sweeto, DJ Crazy Dee, DJ Zetfactor and other surprises,” adds Chikoore.

Macheso’s manager Tich Makahamadze also promised that the King of Sungura would not disappoint his legion of fans as he would be playing tracks from his latest album and other memorable songs from his previous albums.

“We will be in Bulawayo on July 2 as part of our nationwide tour to promote our new album. We are working hard preparing for the show and to our multitude of fans in Bulawayo and surrounding areas, who have previously been shortchanged by the band performing outside the city, we are saying they should come in their numbers as Baba Sharo will deliver an unforgettable performance at Eyardin Park,” said Makahamadze.

The songs on the new album are Makazvinzwepi, Kutadzirana, Nzendo Dzirefu, Impfa Nimunandi, Ndimi Vanhu Vacho and Munhu Mumwe.
