LIVESTOCK was up for grabs and a five-star performance in a two-day Heroes Pool Tournament held 15 kilometres away from Inyathi saw Lobengula Sharks conquer all and sundry to get a cow as their prize.

This was after scores of pool lovers had converged on Famona’s Siyabonga Bar on Sunday and Monday for the contest that was organised by the venue’s proprietors in conjunction with Bulawayo Provincial Pool Association (BPPA).

“It was a great outing for pool lovers WHO really enjoyed themselves at a tournament that attracted lots of people. It was good to see people engage each other in true sporting manner as this was all in the spirit of taking the game of pool to the people.

The qualifiers were played on Sunday and the final match was played on Monday. Lobengula Sharks emerged as champions and took a cow as their first prize. It was a great outing for pool lovers,” said BPPA marketing and publicity officer Osbornewells Dziko.

BPPA seasoned campaigners Entumbane came out as the second-best club to get two goats in a 24-team competition.

Southwold Originals and Zimra were tied on third place to get a goat and four chickens.

The playing format that was used at the contest was race to 13 and the participation fee was pegged at US$30 per club.

Inyathi-based pool side Mahamba also took part in the event and they made it into the top five while a Ntabazinduna- based outfit, which was made up of unheralded players from the area, did not perform well.
