A man who suspected that his lover was two-timing him with another villager stabbed her with an Okapi knife before allegedly taking poison and later died while admitted to Gwanda Provincial Hospital.
The incident happened in Pelele village in Gwanda under Chief Mathe’s jurisdiction.
A villager, Julia Moyo, said Decent Dube (31) got wind that his lover Arorisoe Sibanda (21) was cheating on him with another villager and that angered him. He confronted her at her home, said Moyo.
Emotions ran high and in the midst of that Decent drew an Okapi knife from his trousers pockets and stabbed Arorisoe thrice and left her lying on the ground bleeding, said a source close to the incident.
He ran to a mountain where he hid and it is suspected that he took poison which caused him to fall sick.
“His family members rushed him to Ntalale clinic. However, his condition deteriorated and that forced health officials at the clinic to transfer him to Gwanda Provincial Hospital and he died last week on Sunday,” said the source.
A source said Arorisoe was rushed to United Bulawayo Hospitals and was said to be in a critical condition.
Efforts to get a comment from Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson Inspector Loveness Mangena were fruitless as her mobile number was not reachable.
