An armed man who had an argument with his neighbours over quarry ran berserk and struck them with a hammer and an iron bar leaving them lying unconscious on the ground.
The incident happened in Burnside suburb in Bulawayo on Wednesday last week.
A source said Takudzwa Nyoni and Nqobile Nyoni accused Morris Nyathi of stealing their quarry sand. The argument escalated into a fist fight and Nyathi ran to his room where he fetched a hammer and an iron bar. He charged at the Nyoni brothers while shouting obscenities at them.
“He uncontrollably struck them on the body, he also assaulted them with an iron bar, they fell on to the ground and lay unconscious,” said a source.
The Nyoni brothers sustained injuries on the body and were ferried to the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) for treatment.
The matter was reported to the police leading to the arrest of Nyathi.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and urged community members to live in harmony and to seek advice from relatives whenever they are faced with disputes.
