WARRIORS lanky forward Tino Kadewere was on Sunday shown a straight red card five minutes before time when his French side Lyon succumbed to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Nice.

That was the player’s first red card in France. Kadewere had bounced back from the treatment room, a development that saw him miss Warriors’ recent back-to-back matches against Ghana.

The striker was reportedly sent for an early shower after he had a dangerous two- footed lunge on an opponent.

The ex-Harare City striker is one of the players expected to lead the Warriors attack at the Afcon 2021 to be staged in Cameroon in January next year.

Warriors coach Norman Mapeza might also be compelled to include Kadewere in the senior team that will face South Africa on 11 November and Ethiopia on 14 November. These will be two dead rubber World Cup campaign matches for Zimbabwe who have already been knocked out after managing to collect a single point from four matches they have played so far.
