LATEST: Four armed robbers raid two homes

Four armed robbers pounced on two homes at Cement Siding compound during the night and got away with cash and electrical gadgets.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident and appealed for information that may lead to the arrest of the four armed robbers.

“The four armed robbers have relatives in the society and they live in the community of Bulawayo. Some members of the public could have a clue about their whereabouts. We are appealing for information that could lead to their arrest, anyone with information may contact any nearest police station or call us on 0950863.”

The incident happened last week on Sunday shortly after 10pm.

A source close to the incident said the four men who were armed with a machete and an axe threw stones at the main door at a house in Cement Siding compound after which they gained entry.

“Two of the guys remained outside while the other two went into the house and headed to the owner’s bedroom. They pointed a machete at him while threatening to hack him to death with it. They demanded cash. Fearing for his life he surrendered US$155 and two cellphones. After that they left and pounced at a neighbour’s house,” said a source close to the incident.

They used the same modus operandi to gain entry into the house.

“They found the owner of the house standing by the door and threatened to kill her. After that they demanded cash, she surrendered a laptop, a cellphone and US$720 cash,” said the source.

The two robbery victims reported the matter at Cement Siding police base.
